I find myself editing photos on a daily basis. Whether it be for work or personal purposes, I crop and resize images on a regular basis. Usually, I will open up Photoshop or some other resource heavy app that is really meant for extreme detailed work and advanced photo editing. All I really need is a simple, easy to use photo app that will allow me to crop and resize efficiently. Now I have that with ImaPic.

ImaPic is a very handy photo editing utility from developer My Mix Apps. The app lives in your menu bar as a small icon that you can drag and drop images onto to complete simple resizing jobs. It’s minimalistic and so very easy to use. ImaPic allows you to resize, change orientation, crop, convert images to new formats and share them with friends and family. The app even allows for batch conversion.

To use the utility, you simply drag an photo or image that you want to edit onto the menu bar icon. An editing window pops up that has the options that allow you to resize your image. Everything you need is in this window. When you are done, you click on the check mark in the bottom right-hand corner and it prompts you to save the file. At this point, you select location and name and save the edited image.

ImaPic really couldn’t be any easier to use. It’s a delightful little utility that will surely increase my productivity when it comes to image resizing and simple cropping. One thing I was a bit disappointed in was that some of the features aren’t available until you unlock them by buying the Pro version. I wasn’t expecting that to be the case from reading the description in the app store. The Pro features include multiple image resize, conversions between different formats (jpg, png, bmp and tiff), image compression and no limit on daily image editing operations (NOTE: I have not yet reached a daily limit with the free version).

Even though some features are not available without Pro version purchase, I still find ImaPic to be a very useful app.

ImaPic can be downloaded for free in the Mac App Store with a Pro version available for $2.99.
