HongSeok USB 3.0 Hub – 7 Ports of USB 3.0 in a solid shell.

The other day I decided to reorganize my desk. That’s when I decided that I was lacking USB ports. I needed to find a USB 3.0 hub that would not only work with my MacBook Pro, but also be discreet enough not to stick out too much as I wanted to really keep my setup very clean. Because I write reviews, I have a stockpile of hubs that I’ve reviewed over the years. I just needed to dig them out and find one that worked for the purpose I was looking for. Fortunately, I found one that I had yet to review and it fit in the space I was wanting to use for a hub. The HongSeok USB 3.0 Hub has a very slick design as it’s made to resemble something Apple would make.

My first impressions of the HongSeok USB 3.0 Hub were generally good. It’s got a sleek, smooth, dark gray finish. It’s very reminiscent of the Space Gray color from Apple. It does communicate through USB 3.0 and has 7 ports for you to charge, or sync your device through. The aluminum finish stands up well to scratches and it’s extremely lightweight. With the USB 3.0 speed, you will experience transfer rates up to 5Gbps for flash memory, SSD, 2.5″/3.5″ hard drives, and other products that transmit through USB. The hub is backwards compatible to allow USB 2.0 and even USB 1.1 devices to communicate though it.

The HongSeok USB 3.0 Hub is very easy to use. You simply plug it in and start using it. There are no drivers required and it supports hot swapping. The hub actually has a built-in surge protector, too, to help keep your devices and products safe in the even to a power loss or surge.

I’ve been incredibly impressed by this little USB hub by HongSeok. It’s as powerful as it is stylish. One thing I’m not thrilled with is how the USB cable is built into the hub. Even though this is listed as a feature, I would have preferred the cable to be removable. The cable is 1 foot in length. There is an external 5V DC adapter included if the USB hub is going to power multiple devices.
