Frozen Free Fall is a nice tie-in to the film.
It’s been a long time since I felt a connection to a Disney animated film. The last one (non-Pixar) I really enjoyed was Tarzan, which was at the end of the Disney renaissance era. Post-renaissance, Disney animated films, in my opinion, have struggled to be truly great. That is until this past November when Frozen hit the big screen. I actually just saw the picture this past weekend, but was blown away by the storytelling and musicality of it. And, no one can argue with the success it’s seen in the box office. To date, Frozen has grossed over $950,000,000 in the box office. Now, Frozen with the upcoming release of Frozen to home media – Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Download – it’s sure to be a family favorite for years to come.
It should come as no surprise that the company made famous for entertainment has an entire division dedicated to mobile apps, content and services – Disney Mobile. And one should expect that with a powerhouse franchise like Frozen, that there would be a game…and there is.
Frozen Free Fall is a match-3 based game where the player is instructed to match at least three of the same icy jewel in a row to make them break and fall of the board. You start the game as young Elsa and Anna, the main characters of Frozen, and gradually unlock more characters as the game progresses. Each character has its own unique power-ups special to the character’s personality from the movie.
Like other classic match-3 games, Frozen Free Fall is an addictive, joy ride through the land of Arendell. After playing through a few rounds, I found myself not realizing what time it was or how long I had been playing. It’s a creative way to infuse the movie story with the a game of this sort.
Frozen Free Fall is a free to download with many in-app purchases available. It has 120 levels and includes free daily rewards and prizes. Frozen Free Fall was originally released Nov 15, 2013, 12 days before the worldwide release of the film. It’s currently on version 1.2.0 and has expanded it’s level offerings twice.
I recommend this game to not only fans of the film, but also fans of match-3 type games. This is a fun addition for any Candy Crush fan’s collection.
