There are so many times that I sit down to work only to find that my phone needs to be charged but I have no outlets within reach. This is where extended planning for your workspace comes in handy. Certainly, a steeper option when considering desk power strips when given what you can find on Amazon. but on the other hand, if you want something that you know is going to be reliable, last as long as your desk, and match your office space then the price tag may be worth it. 

User Experience

Since the PS015 Clamp Power Strip With USB is designed as an add-on for a standing desk, the box is more like a shipping carton than a retail box. It’s brown cardboard and there is a small illustration of the power outlet on the front. “Flexispot” and the name of the product are included as well. On the inside of the box, you’ll find the power strip, its one-page manual, and the clamp accessories.

The power strip is compact and allows users to maximize their desk space. By clamping it to the side, you can easily access the outlets and USB ports without the usual mess of cables running across your workspace.

Clamp Function vs. Screw-in Installation

The most notable feature of the PS015 is its clamp-on functionality, which allows it to securely attach to the edge of your desk. And, depending on how handy you are, the holes provided for the L brackets to mount on the side of the desk can be used to secure it on the bottom side of the desk with screws as well as the back and side.

Since I noticed that it wouldn’t be secure, I opted to use my own screws with the pre-drilled holes on the power strip. This option did work out ok even though it’s not the intended installation option.

While I didn’t try it, I do think that extra large power bricks/adapters could possibly take up too much space. According to the manual, the USB ports provide DC5V, 3.1A total, which is fairly typical of charging dock power delivery.

Build Quality and Safety

While the product description suggests that the user can ‘put their mind at ease with safety and easy access,’ there is no documentation that suggests any safety regulations or certification have been met. In fact, Flexispot doesn’t even list the precise power levels for the individual power outlets or the USB ports. The only information provided is the following:

We opt for better materials to ensure safety and durability.” I truly think that Flexispot should upgrade the information on this product — both on their website and in their manual.

Cost vs. Utility

As much as I like the compact, ergonomic design of this power strip and its unique mounting option, I’m not sure if the higher price tag is justified especially since the specifics of the build materials and safety regulations aren’t provided. It’s my firm opinion that electrical products should provide that information so that you don’t risk overloading outlets or ports.
