Flayvr brings photos to life.

iOS devices have changed the way we socialize. We interact on a daily basis with people we haven’t seen in years and share our entire lives right down to what we had for breakfast through social media. Photo and video sharing has become part of our daily lives and instead of showing people wallet-sized photos of our children, we are showing off their singing and dancing skills via Facebook. There are several apps that assist with this multimedia sharing. One such app is Flayvr.

Flayvr creates interactive, shareable photo albums from the media located in your Camera Roll. It pulls information from the photos that are taken and location services to produce simple, beautiful pieces of art that are easily shared with friends and family directly from the app.

Flayvr has been available since July 2012, but is only on version 1.1.1, which was released March 9, 2013. This is an app that I just discovered and like immensely. It saves me a lot of time scrolling through the Camera Roll on my iPhone just to show someone what our cat did that night. One of my favorite features of this app is that album creation is automatic. Sharing options include Facebook, Twitter, Google +, SMS and Email.

When you open the app for the first time you are greeted with a series of permission screens. Once you make your choices for permissions, the app displays albums created directly from your camera roll. This is how the app stands apart from the iPhone’s own app, Photos. You can create shareable albums on the iPhone within the native app, but Flayvr does it automatically. And the interface is interactive.

When the album is presented to you, it continually moves through the pictures it has grouped together featuring both photos and video. Flayvr quite literally brings the photo albums to life. And even though the albums are created automatically, users still have control over editing what photos are included by selecting the ‘Edit’ function of the album.

Flayvr is a easy to use and as social as interactive media has become, I recommend it to anyone with an iOS device. Flayvr is optimized for iPhone 5 and compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
