eufyCam 2 Pro Wireless Home Security Cameras
The camera system is easy to install and provides a strong video signal to mobile devices. The cameras have a good overall design and users have multiple options for mounting. The price is higher than competitors for a 2-camera system with 2K video resolution. Worth the investment.

EufyCam provides a high-quality video feed to monitor your property so you have peace of mind
Security cameras are a great way to keep an eye on your property and make sure that everything is safe. They can help you identify any problems or theft, and they can also provide peace of mind in case anything happens while you’re away. We’ve had security cameras around our property for the past 10 years.
At first, it was just a video doorbell. Then, we added a floodlight camera with motion activation to our garage. Finally, we started incorporating wireless security cameras around the entire property. Most recently we added two eufyCam 2 Pro Wireless Home Security Cameras to enhance the system we already had in place.

About eufyCam 2 Pro Cameras
This is our first experience with eufy branded products, but we’ve worked with eufy’s parent company, Anker Innovations, for many years. eufy has a motto of “Smart Home Simplified” and they are dedicated to creating products like laser-guided robotic vacuum cleaners and, of course, wireless security systems. eufy was launched as a brand in 2016 and has grown quite a bit since then.
The eufyCam 2 Pro Cameras feature a 365-day battery life and are compatible with HomeKit. The cameras are rated IP67 and are weatherproof. They have night vision and there is no monthly fee for video recordings. The cameras record a crisp, clear 2K video signal and there is a spotlight included on the cameras. The eufyCam 2 Pro was launched in 2020, which was two years after eufy released its first security camera, the EverCam.

User Experience
When the eufyCam 2 Pro Camera System arrived, we unboxed it to unveil all the parts included with the kit. In addition to the items listed above, indoor and outdoor mounting accessories are also part of the kit. A couple of eufy Security stickers are provided, too, and a HomeKit setup guide. Since I was familiar with how other wireless cameras have been set up, I knew that getting the HomeBase connected to our network and powered on was likely the first step. So, I grabbed the ethernet cable, power cable, and HomeBase and installed it in our network cabinet.

The next step in the install process is to download the mobile app (available for iOS or Android) and sign up for a eufy account. The app will then provide on-screen instructions for the remainder of the installation. The mobile guide will give you directions on how to mount the cameras. Because they are weatherproof, they can be used indoors or outdoors. We opted to place one in our living room and one outside on our front patio.
We also decided to let the living room camera rest on a shelf rather than mount it on the wall and the front patio camera we set up with one of the indoor mounts. The indoor mount is a metal knob that allows the camera to attach via its magnets. The location where we placed the outdoor camera is very secure and would require someone to use a ladder in order to reach it. We preferred using the round metal mount because we can swap the cameras easier and some of our Arlo cameras can also mount to it if we ever needed to change where the cameras are located.

One of the reasons I was eager to add these cameras to our existing system is that I felt the response time on some of the older cameras was waning. So, these eufy cameras were meant to replace those units. I was expecting the new cameras to be faster, but I was honestly blown away by how quickly the cameras connected to the mobile app.
There are two ways to access the cameras’ video feed – through the eufy app or through your smart system. Our smart home system of choice is Apple HomeKit, which was why the eufy cameras were so appealing to us. HomeKit provides you with a video preview in the Home app with the option of opening the camera to a live feed. When I accessed our Arlo cameras through the Home app it would take 30 seconds or more for it to show the live feed and sometimes, the cameras wouldn’t even connect. The eufy cameras have never faltered. They take about 5 seconds to connect to the live feed and the video signal is clear and steady.

As far as the HomeKit setup is concerned, the HomeBase of the eufy cameras has a HomeKit code stamped on the bottom of it. What you are actually connecting to HomeKit is the HomeBase. Then, the cameras that connect through it are accessible in the Home app. This is the same process that smart home products like Philips Hue lights use when they connect to HomeKit.
One of the highlighted features of these cameras is their battery life. They are supposed to last 365 days on a single charge. We have had the cameras installed for less than a month, but their battery levels are already down to 60%. I will say that the Arlo cameras – even the newer ones – have to be charged every couple of weeks (some sooner).
Apparently, there are some factors that can affect the eufyCam’s battery life, too. If the cameras are in a high-traffic location and constantly being accessed, that can use up battery. It’s also hypothesized that using the Home app over the eufy app can also reduce the battery life. I believe this has something to do with how the Home app is updating the video still images.

Conclusion
So far I’ve been very impressed with the eufyCam 2 Pro Camera System. They were easy to set up, easy to connect to HomeKit, and provided quick access to video of our property. I feel that the eufyCam is a great choice for home security. It provides peace of mind knowing that your home is safe and secure. If you are looking for a reliable home security system, the eufyCam is a great option.
