3-card MagSafe Wallet with Apple Find My compatibility

buy from amazon

Have you ever stopped to think about the plethora of features that iPhones offer beyond simple telephony, messaging, and communication?  They have replaced and integrated several features of Palm Pilots, BlackBerrys, Media Players, calculators, music tuners, cameras, video recorders, and gaming consoles.  It is impressive to think about the tech integration with Bluetooth and the intercommunication with smart tech in our homes, vehicles, and office spaces.  Despite all these advancements, I believe MagSafe technology remains an underappreciated feature.  More than just a wireless charging feature, the tech enables optimization, integration, and customization.

PACKAGING:

The ESR GEO Wallet Stand arrived in an attractive, silver, metallic-colored, 4 1/2-inch-wide by 6-inch-tall by 1-inch-thick retail package.  The ESR name/logo and GEO Wallet stand name were displayed along the top left, while the lower edge listed a few product features: strong magnetic lock, 1-3 card secure wallet, and Apple Find My functionality.  The cover’s main features were the centrally located images of the wallet/stand, magnetic attachment, vertical and landscape-oriented mounting options, finger strap presentation, and an image of the Apple Find My feature along the bottom edge.  The right-hand panel featured a fun “Tech Made Easier” slogan. In contrast, the left-side panel provided product specifications (size: 102x65x12mm, weight: 85g, 12mAh/3.7V battery, 5V/0.12A input, 0.07W output, 1500 gf magnetic attachment), box contents, and compatibility list (iPhone 12 or newer, iOS 14.5 or newer, MagSafe Cases).  The bottom panel displayed the company email (esrtech.com), support email (support@esrtech.com), and a few manufacturing labels.

The rear panel displayed the ESR GEO WALLET STAND HALOLOCK name along the top edge, a photo-quality image of the stand against a silver iPhone 17 Pro Max, an Apple Find my Logo, and three product features: Full Find My functionality, Strong Magnetic Lock, Holds 1-3 cards equally secure, and paragraphs detailing the features.  The lower edge listed product manufacturing labels, a UPC barcode, and the 2K609 model number.  I like the imagery and the contrast between the front and rear panels.  However, there was some redundancy between the front/rear panels and the feature descriptions.  Overall, the silver and white backgrounds contrasted nicely with the provided imagery and font, creating a very welcoming experience.

UNBOXING:

I slid the inner tray out from the outer packaging and removed the quick-start guide, product care card (QR code, setup video, 24-month warranty, Customer support info), and user manual.  Beneath the instruction booklets, you will find the 3.0-ounce, 2 5/8-inch-wide by 4-inch-tall by 1/2-inch-thick wallet stand.  The V-shaped, hinged stand-wallet had a nice textured feel, a pleasing leathery smell, and an attractive blue color. Before disposing of the inner tray, make sure to remove the 20 3/8-inch-long USB-C-to-magnetic charger hidden within the silver-metallic cardboard tray.  The charging cable is integral to the device’s Find My features and is unique enough that you do not want to misplace or lose it.  I had a similar magnetic charging cable for my daughter’s bone conduction earphones, and FitBit. Unfortunately, if you lose the cable, you will have to reach out to the company or hope to find one on eBay.

TESTING:

I plugged a Klein Tools Multimeter into a USB-C port on my UGREEN 160W hub, then connected the USB-C to magnetic cable between the Multimeter and the ESR Wallet Stand (5.14V/0.11A).  I appreciated the small orange/red LED charging indicator adjacent to the magnetic charging port, and the shift to green once fully charged (~30 minutes out of the box).  The instruction manual recommended charging the battery at least every 3 months.  The quick start guide provided a five-step setup process (turn on two-factor authentication, turn on Find My, turn on location services, turn on Bluetooth, and connect to the internet), followed by a four-step pairing process (power on the wallet, open Find My App, adding the Wallet to your iPhone, and connecting to the App).

The multilingual user manual provided similar information but in a variety of languages (English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Polish, Dutch, Korean, Traditional and Simple Chinese, Japanese, and Arabic). The first two pages provided a labeled diagram of the front/back of the case/stand and detailed the card holder, finger loop, power button, charging light status, and charging port.  The subsequent pages detailed the setup process, how to get started, pairing the wallet, locating the wallet (sound alert/jingle, notify when left behind), changing the wallet’s name, removing the wallet, safety warnings, and charging.

After the device was fully charged, I navigated to Settings, Sign in and Security, and made sure Two-Factor authentication was active.  I then returned to Settings and made sure Find My and Bluetooth and location services were active.  The pairing process was actually more straightforward than the instructions suggested.  I powered on the HALOLOCK Wallet Stand by pressing the small power button on the wallet’s inside back, and a single jingle played from the wallet.  I navigated to the Find My App, tapped “Items” along the bottom edge, “+” along the top, and then “Other Item.”  After a few seconds, the App displayed “ESR HaloLock Geo Wallet Stand.”  I named the wallet, navigated through the instructions, and added the card to the Find My setup.  When I selected “Daniel’s Wallet” from the list, I could see the mapped location at the top of the panel and had options for Play Sound, Directions, and Share Item.  I tapped “Add Person” and then selected Dad from the list.  My phone displayed “Add Daniel’s Wallet to Find My?” along the upper banner.  I selected the banner, added the Wallet to my Find My and gained the ability to use the Find My features with my phone.

The rear wallet feature easily accommodated three full-thickness cards.  The wallet’s lower edge had a small thumb notch that let me push the cards up for easy removal.  I was pleased to find that the friction grip securely held one, two, or three cards without them slipping out.  However, the thumb press feature did not allow for easy card separation.  You will need to press the cards you did not want back into the wallet and remove those that you did want.  The rear panel also had a 3/4-inch-wide by 3-inch-tall leather finger-loop strap. The strap had a lower 7/16 inch diameter metallic ring and a slider groove to either deploy the finger loop or to allow it to rest flat against the case.  Lastly, the MagSafe attachment gripped securely to the surface of my son’s iPhone 15 or my iPhone 17 Pro Max in vertical and landscape modes.  The stand had a second, yet slightly weaker, magnet along the lower edge that kept it closed.  You can enjoy the wallet stand in a fully deployed state or open it to an angle of nearly 180 degrees.

### CONCLUSION:

I appreciated the multifunction design of the HALOLOCK Wallet Stand, the strong MagSafe connection, the three-card wallet, the finger loop, and the customizable viewing angles. The stand is currently available in black or brown, while the blue color does not appear to be available.
