Create a case that speaks volumes about you while protecting your phone.

There is a lot to be said for keeping your phone, which is an investment in itself, in a really solid case. About two weeks ago, I talked about the virtues of Element Case Black OPS and why it was such a good choice for the iPhone X. Well, today, I want to introduce you to Element Case’s Custom Shop — a place where you can put your own mark on the tough cases from Element Case.

Pick your chassis. Choose your rails. Select your buttons.
When you enter the custom shop of Element Case, you are given the option to customize the Formula case for either the iPhone X or the iPhone 7/8. The case retails for $99.95 and you can buy it without customizing it at the same price. With that in mind, why not go ahead and create a case specific to you?

Element Case Custom Shop and Formula Case REVIEW

The process is pretty easy. You select your phone size and a new page loads with the different options on it. First, you select between a black & grey body or a white & grey body. Next, you will choose the color rails you want. You have six different colors to pick from — blue, red, yellow, green, grey, or orange. Once you select that piece, you then pick your button color — silver or gold. There is a real-time animated model that is available for you to review on the page before you select ‘order’. When you order a Formula case without customizing it, you only have two color/theme options. If you know what options you want, you can easily get through the process within a few minutes.

The webpage does state that it can take up to two weeks to build your custom case. That’s something to be aware of in case you have a firm deadline for your custom case. I like this as an option for branding personally. I actually met up with Element Case a few weeks ago at CES and was able to have my own case customized at the show. I opted to go with something that resembled MacSources brand colors because I thought that would be a nice callout for our brand. Even though it’s a pricey gift, I could see the customizable options for Element Case being a really impressive premium or leave behind for salespeople.

Element Case Custom Shop and Formula Case REVIEW

About the Formula Case
Now that I’ve described the process of customization with Element Case, allow me to tell you more about the actual case. The Formula case is designed to be stylish as well as protective — as is the case with all of Element Case’s products. With this particular case, Element Case used aerospace grade carbon fiber and CNC machined aluminum for the chassis. The interior has high-impact TPU for added protection. The case is very lightweight, but rugged. I actually like it more than the Black OPS case because it’s far less bulky to me. And, even though its lightweight, it still meets military drop-test specifications. The Formula Case combines a lot of different features into this fabulous protective case.

  • DropShock corners: impact-absorbing four-corner design dissipates energy to withstand bumps and drops
  • HIT Technology: High-Impact TPU, or HIT, provides extreme protection at both ends of the case
  • Carbon Fiber Reinforced MERC 4 chassis design
  • CNC Machined Aluminum: Front bezel is machined from 6061 T6 aluminum billet for strength and lightweight
  • Fast Tap Buttons: Buttons are also CNC machined aluminum and provide quick and easy use of volume and on/off functions

I have been using the Formula case for about a week now and even though I don’t usually like cases on my phone, I’ve really taken to this one. It’s tactical in style, but very functional and lightweight, which are big pluses for me. Another feature I really like about this case is that I was able to slide my phone into it without having to use tools like I did with the Black OPS case.

Element Case Custom Shop and Formula Case REVIEW

The Formula case is built tough and with the ability to customize it for your personal needs, I think the Formula case from Element Case is a great protective, option for the iPhone X.
