Provides protection and unique style.
For the past week or so, I’ve been testing out a rather unique laptop sleeve. It’s made out of felt. You heard me right – felt. That stuff you use for arts & crafts in grade school is now being used for protection of your most important tech device – your laptop. I don’t know about you, but my laptop is my lifeline. It’s how I communicate with the world and get my work done. It’s practically another appendage. So, protection for this all important device is vital to me. When I first started hearing about felt laptop sleeves, I just didn’t think they would be adequate. Now that I’ve had the chance to try it out, I’m signing a much different tune.
First of all, let’s talk about the materials. The felt is an environmentally-friendly material. Felt is traditionally made from wool, which is biodegradable. In addition to this fact, another thing to note is that felt is usually self-extinguishing and inherently flame retardant. In addition to the durable super-fabric on the exterior, the interior pocket has microfiber cloth to prevent felt fabric loss and helps to keep your laptop clean. There are two pieces of elastic included – one to hold the main flap closed and one for a writing utensil – but the rest is microfiber and felt.
The design is simple and clean. There is one main pocket that is just large enough for a MacBook Pro (NOTE: a MacBook Pro in a protective case will not fit). Besides the main pocket, there are two smaller pouches meant for cable storage and a cell phone. I also used to store a separate slim battery pack for my mobile devices. One concern I had with this sleeve was that the elastic would start to loosen, but it has not shown signs of wear yet.
I use my laptop frequently and am constantly on-the-go. So, I was concerned about the durability of this sleeve, but am convinced it’s the way to go. My laptop and smaller accessories fit very well inside it’s compartments and the sleeve is slim enough to still fit inside my larger computer bags. This sleeve is a very smart design and something I’m happy to add to my collection.
