A beautifully design, simple expense tracker.
If there is one thing I’m terrible at, it’s finance tracking. I’ve tried many, many register apps and just never seem to find one that is easy enough to use and still covers all the areas that I want from an expense tracking app. Easy Spending for iOS is one of the best, simplest expense trackers on the market. So, I decided to try it out.
Right from the start, Easy Spending lives up to its name. When you first open the app, you are met with a screen that shows your account balance. From here, you can quickly add income or expenses to your accounts. In my experience, adding transactions to apps like this can become very painful and time consuming. The developers of Easy Spending boil it down to the bare essentials. You enter an amount, select a category, enter a date and mark whether it is recurring or not. The app stores the information and you can move on with your day.
There is a notes section where you can enter details of your expenses if you wish. What I really like about this function of the app is that you can easily just enter a quick dollar amount and a note for it and move on if you are in a hurry. You have the option to go back later and edit the transaction if you need to.
You can have multiple accounts stored within this app, but while I was testing it out, I only used one. When you have multiple accounts, you can transfer funds between them. This can be a very handy tool when you are shuffling funds in real life between your checking and savings accounts.
One thing I wants to stress is that this is not a bill paying or tracking app. While you have the option to transfer monies between accounts, it’s not really a ‘pay’ function. It’s also not a traditional check register app. It does not give you the option to reconcile transactions. It’s a simple expense tracker and it works exceptionally well for that.
In addition to the easy to use transaction tracking, there are some pretty impressive options on the backend of it, too. For one thing, Easy Spending has cloud support for backup purposes. The app integrates Dropbox syncing for easy backup. This option is a premium add-on purchase and costs the user $0.99 to enable to Automatic Backup Service.
Easy Spending comes with some really nice features including tasteful animations, easy gesture control, and a clutter-free layout. It’s a great app for helping to maintain the delicate balance of your accounts and know exactly where your money is being spent. You have the option to export your records and have a myriad of reports at your disposal. The app is compatible with both iPhone and iPad, but there is no companion app for the Apple Watch yet. I do hope that one will be developed.
If you have trouble keeping track of your expenses like I do and want a really simple, clean, easy-to-use app, give Easy Spending a try.
