The best folio case I have ever used period.
Let me start by saying that in general, I hate phone cases of any kind. Going back to the early 2000’s when I was rocking Nextel flip phones, I always hated the extra bulk that any type of case added. This was especially true of belt clip cases that I always managed to snag on corners, car seats and any other objects that happened to be in my path.
Fast forward 15 or so years and not a lot has changed. I love how thin my iPhone 6s Plus is and I enjoy carrying it in my front left pant pocket. I typically leave it inside a Peel case, which I reviewed last year and love, or I swap it into a rugged case when I am riding horses or doing something outside.
Ever since Apple switched to TouchID, I have noticed that kneeling and squatting in jeans will often activate Siri. This is annoying, but what concerned me more was that over time, the home button on my last two iPhones (iPhone 5s and iPhone 6 Plus) became very loose compared to my fresh iPhone 6s Plus. In the case of my iPhone 6 Plus, the button did not work 25% of the time which in part prompted me to upgrade. Clearly, my lifestyle was putting my iPhone’s into an early grave.
I decided to look into belt and folio cases to solve this problem. What I learned is that I still hate belt cases for the reasons mentioned before, but folio cases are a dream to use. Now, not all folio cases are created equal and regular readers of MacSources will likely notice that I have not reviewed any until now. I have used folio cases, but let’s just say that the makers of them would not have wanted a published review from me.
I have been using the DREEM Fibonacci iPhone Wallet Case for the 6s Plus for a week now and I love it more than my iPhone. First of all, this folio case can convert back and forth between a relatively thin iPhone case and a complete folio case. The DREEM case does this with a powerful magnet that keeps the iPhone inside the wallet portion of the case. This alone is a killer feature for me because I can remove the iPhone from the wallet and leave it in my pocket when I am home without having to change cases. When I am ready to go out into the world, I just snap it into the wallet and I am out the door. This also allows me to keep it in my back pocket like a wallet, which frees up my front pocket.
The next best thing about this case is that it can hold a lot of cards, cash, and receipts. Many cases that I have tried seem to assume that you will have two credit cards max and no cash / receipts. My driver’s license automatically takes one of those spots and when you add in a bank card, credit cards, etc. then space starts getting tight. While I don’t typically carry cash, I do end up with a lot of paper receipts from purchases.
My DREEM case currently holds my driver’s license, two insurance cards, my debit card and five additional credit cards. There is still room left for a day’s worth of receipts and cash without making the case bulkier. As a bonus, the DREEM case has creases that can bend like an iPad smart cover to allow you to watch movies, etc. without holding your phone.
Finally, for those that care about luxury and fashion; this case looks good! Mine is in brown leather and it looks and feels great. As soon as I touched this case, I could tell that the manufacturing process was of a high quality. This thing has been in and out of my pockets for over a week and I have noticed no fraying in the stitching or wearing on the leather. Nothing lasts forever, but I am confident that the DREEM case will be around for quite a while.
This brings me to my last point. We review a lot of items at MacSources and many times we get to keep the products if we want to. I stress “if” because many times we don’t want to keep them. I have a sort of unofficial award that I give to review products that I not only want to keep but become my daily driver. I am proud to say that The DREEM Fibonacci iPhone Wallet Case has warmly stepped into that role. I plan to continue using it daily and at this point, cannot imagine something else in my pocket.
