Creative indie game lets you play puzzles without needing math degree.
I remember not too long ago that I really got hooked on a puzzle game called Threes. In that game, you swipe your finger left-right-up-down to move squares around your screen. To win, you combine the numbers to form multiples of three (3, 6, 9, 12 and so on). Because of its simplicity, it’s highly addicting and very fun. There is another game called 2048, that has the same principle. You just have the goal of combining numbers until you reach the total of 2048. Now, you can do the same thing with cupcakes in Cupcake 2048.
Cupcake 2048 is a cute indie game that launches today. It’s based off of puzzle games like 2048 except that instead of combining numbers to reach your goals, you are building cupcakes. The thought was that you could enjoy the puzzle-based game without having to have a math degree.
“I decided to create Cupcake 2048 because I was so addicted to 2048 and I thought it would be great to play with some nice cupcakes instead of numbers.” says Wolfgang Knecht. “Development time took longer than expected because I was hooked to my own game. Sometimes that kept me from work.” he concludes.

- Smooth animations
- Supports English and German
I was fortunate enough to be able to test out Cupcake 2048 before its official release. It is indeed a very entertaining, very addicting game. It’s one of those games that you start playing and then realize it’s been an hour since you started. It goes by quickly and it plays like an endless runner style game. This type of game is also very challenging – especially the longer you play.
Cupcake 2048 is free to download with an option to remove ads for $0.99.
