Do you have a website you would like to optimize for mobile devices? Now you can do it for free from your iPhone. M.dot makes it easy to create a mobile website within 5 minutes. M.dot lets you start with a test account so that you can see how the app works. I recommend using the test account to begin.
You then select “Create a New Mobile Site.” M.dot gives you six sample templates to work with in the app. All are nice, clean layouts that look nice on the iPhone. Once you select a template, which can be changed later in the process, you are then allowed to edit and customize the information on your site.
One of my favorite features of this app is the ability to use images from an existing website. For example, when you are adding photos, either in the gallery or the log spot, you are given the option to select from an existing website, Flickr, your phone’s library or you can take a new photo. When you get images from an existing website, you simply enter the URL and the app looks at the images available on that site. From there, it’s as easy as selecting an image in your iPhone’s Photo Library.
The site stays private until you specify to make it public in the app. This is also a wonderful feature as it gives users the option to test for as long as they like.
M.dot allows users to set up basic, functional, nice-looking mobile websites. I highly recommend this app to any web designers or administrators. It’s a great option for creating mobile websites.
M.dot was released on October 11, 2012 and is currently on version 1.0.
