August 20, 2024, marks a significant milestone for us at MacSources—our 12th anniversary! What began as a small, passionate project in 2012 has blossomed into a widely recognized tech news and review platform, and we couldn’t have done it without you — the companies and developers that trust us to promote their products and apps; our readers who continue to give us purpose; our sponsors and supporters who make it possible for us to maintain a clean, site free of ad-clutter; and, our writers, who provide their time and creative energy to creating our wonderful content.
A Journey Fueled by Passion
The roots of MacSources actually stretch back as far as 2008, when Nick, one of our two co-founders, started creating content based on his own experiences with technology products. When he and I met in 2011, he asked if I wanted to start writing reviews. I had some experience with sharing my opinions publicly in the form of movie reviews, but I hadn’t ever written product reviews. I started with looking at items that I already had and picking out apps that seemed to provide good service to users. We established a rhythm of writing and publishing reviews and eventually opted to rebrand as MacSources.
In August 2012, MacSources was born out of a desire to fill a gap in the tech review world. In an era where rumors and sensationalism often overshadowed real innovation, we wanted to create a space where genuine reviews and thoughtful commentary on technology, apps, and products could thrive. From the very first review, an editorial about the CitySlicker MacBook Case from Waterfield Designs, we focused on giving voice to the developers and companies who put their hearts into creating the tools and gadgets we all love.
Growing with the Community
Over the years, MacSources has grown from a one-person blog to a dynamic team of writers dedicated to bringing the latest in tech news, reviews, and insights to the world. We’ve expanded our focus beyond just mobile apps to cover a broad range of consumer products, from tech gadgets to home goods and even everyday carry items. Through it all, our mission has remained the same: to provide honest, thoughtful reviews that help consumers make informed decisions.
