CableBox creates a decorative piece from unsightly surge protectors.
As you might be able to imagine from our reviews on MacSources, we have a lot of technology in our home. Unfortunately, this also means we have a lot of cables. It’s a necessary evil, but cables are unsightly and just simply make living areas look cluttered. We try our best to hide our cabling and generally do a pretty good job of it, but in some areas, we have power strips with several power cables sticking out everywhere. We’ve tried putting small objects in front of these places, but to no avail. Luckily, there is a solution in the CableBox.
CableBox by Blue Lounge is a cable management system that is designed to hold an entire power strip and hide the cables that protrude from it. In addition to the obvious function of creating a more pleasant view for living areas, CableBox also provides the very practical function of keeping dust out of power strips and surge protectors.
We were very excited to get our CableBox because we have a prominent surge protector in our living room that we can’t help look at when we are spending time in there. The installation is very simple. You simply pull the top of the CableBox and place the surge protector or power strip, cables and all, into the CableBox. Then, replace the top. It snaps into place and you’re done. The process takes about 90 seconds. There is even enough space within the CableBox to stow any excess cord from your cables.
We are completely thrilled with our CableBox. The surge protector in question has several standard plugs in it, but also an Apple Airport Express, which takes up more than the standard amount of plug space. We had no problem fitting it into the CableBox.
The CableBox is such a great option for people who have a lack of places to hide their cables. I generally feel like we do a pretty good job of cable management, but am so glad that CableBox has been added to our collection.
CableBox also has a little sibling – CableBox Mini. CableBox Mini is about half the size of the CableBox, but would be great for a bedroom or dorm room. CableBox is available in two colors – black or white, but CableBox Mini is available in seven different colors – black, white, blue, green, orange, pink and yellow. That is the only criticism I would have of CableBox is that the CableBox Mini colors aren’t available for CableBox.
CableBox also has rubber feet on the bottom, which allow it to be placed anywhere, even on a desktop, if you preferred. CableBox is made from fire retardant plastic, which adds an extra layer of safety. CableBox will fit most standard single and double row surge protectors, but it will not accommodate larger battery backups or UPS surge protectors.
CableBox also comes packaged with some extra cable ties to help you with your cable management. If you have lots of technology tangling up your life, visit bluelounge.com to find out more about the great products they have like CableBox. CableBox is available for $29.99.
