Head to the Stars in DeNA’s Newest Mobile Adventure RPG, Bounty Stars

Being a long-time fan of science fiction, I’ve always had an interest in space-based video games. I find them adventurous and enjoyable. They tend to stand the test of time, too. I recently had the chance to play, Bounty Stars, an RPG space adventure, which was just released last month. Bounty Stars is a mobile, free-to-play mobile game available for iOS and Android. The game immerses players into a bold and comical sci-fi universe, where no two Bounty Hunts are ever the same. Truth be told, the game/story set-up reminds me a lot of the TV show, Firefly.

I played through a couple of rounds while I tested out the game and really enjoyed myself. Gameplay is smooth and easy to learn. You start out with simple instructional levels that move you step-by-step through the gaming rotations. In Bounty Stars, you are the rookie bounty hunger and you have to form a crew based off of their skills. The format is similar to what you would see on an RPG board game in that you review stats of different characters and determine which ones would be the best fit for your team. Throughout the game, you will engage in both tactical space and ground combat. It’s classic turn-based combat gameplay.

The more you play, the more your team and skills can improve. You train crew to improve skills, stock up on powerful consumable items, and upgrade fighter ships to ensure success in different types of bounty hunting missions. Over the course of bounty campaigns, you will capture criminals, collect new crew members and ship schematics, and encounter multiple types of alien factions as they make their way deeper and deeper into the galactic core.

While I don’t have a lot of experience with RPG video games, I do love how this one is put together. There is more than just one level of gameplay which keeps things very interesting and quickly moving. I also really loved the graphics and animations in this game. There is a lot of color and depth on the screen. It’s a gorgeous game that I think any gamer would enjoy.
