Sleeptracker makes your bed a smart bed.
I’m always curious about how I sleep. Sometimes I feel very well rested and other times, I feel groggy and unwell after the same amount of sleep. So, how do you know exactly how well you sleep? You use a sleep tracker system like this one from Beautyrest. There are actually many different sleep trackers in the market, but I really like this one from Beautyrest because you can track both sides of the bed (if you have a large enough bed) instead of just one side.
The Beautyrest Sleeptracker system is composed of highly accurate sensors that analyze and monitor your heart rate as well as respiration and body movements. This sleep tracker is very easy to install. As I mentioned, there are two sensor units included in this system — one for each side of a bed. You place them both underneath the mattress, connect them to power, and then connect your app (free from the app store) to the tracker. The setup process really only takes about 10 minutes depending on how easy it is to get under your mattress. You do have to be cautious about how you route your cables as you don’t want them to get caught up in the bed frame.
The two sensor units are connected to the processor that not only provides the sensors with power but it also continuously learns your sleep patterns and rhythms. While I appreciate the ease of setup with this tracker, the real hero of this kit is the app as it records all the data. Once you’ve recorded data from a night’s sleep, you will see how well you sleep — awake time, REM sleep, light sleep, and deep sleep are all noted. Once the readings are in the app, it will translate the data into personalized sleep data so that you can receive coaching advice so you can sleep better.
I’ve been using the Sleeptracker for a few week so that I can really try to improve my sleeping habits. To give a little background, a few months ago, I found myself unemployed and without a full-time job. During that time, I got myself into a bad sleep habit. I would go to bed late, get up early, and nap throughout the day. This type of sleep schedule isn’t really conducive to healthy habits and now that I’m back on a regular schedule (because I have a new job!) I have really struggled to make myself get back on track. The Sleeptracker has really helped me because I can visually see when I’m sleeping and what nights are most restless. For example, this past weekend, we did a lot of yard work and I was in a lot of pain by the time I went to bed. You can see by the chart below that my sleeping hours were mostly spent with ‘light’ and ‘REM’ sleep. These two classifications of sleep are considered to be closer to a waking state than deep sleep. So, my sleep score that night was 76. Now, when you compare that score and graph to the second graph, I had a score of 84 and a much larger percent of deep sleep than I did the night I mentioned before. In the past month, my average sleep score has been 87, which is pretty good.
This is a really nice system for the whole bed. There are a lot of fitness tracker that will ‘track your sleep’ but I really like the systems that work by mounting it on the mattress. I also really like that the app gives you the option to automatically start your sleep cycle. There have been many times where I have forgotten to ‘start sleep’ and the next morning, I can just say what time I fell asleep and what time I got up.
The Beautyrest Sleeptracker system is a really slick smart bed option for tracking your sleep. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking to improve their sleeping health.
