Photo Editor iOS App Review 1

Photo Editor by Axiem is an amazing all-in-one photo editor that is a ‘must have.’ Although I like to think of myself as tech savvy, I often find myself asking lots of questions to my other techie friends. The good news is, I often only need gentle nudging/guidance. Blogging, tweeting, messaging, screenshot adjustment, it is difficult to keep up to date with needed apps. I found I needed an app to crop and adjust photos/images for my regular use. Here, I found an app on my own to adjust photos. Enter Photo Editor by Axiom Studios. I do want to mention…

Nomad Pod is a ‘must have’ for charging the Apple Watch. By now, most people who have wanted an Apple Watch have an Apple Watch. Rather than accepting that I am a late adopter, I would like to think that I was waiting for the right accessory. One of the criticisms of the Apple Watch is the battery life and the requirement to charge the device nightly. I have worn a Casio G-shock AWG-101 for years and take this off nightly. So, charging nightly does not bother me. There are a variety of options to charge the Apple Watch, but…

SoundPro Bluedio headphones provide a decent option for mid-range earbuds. I have recently travelled from Western Kentucky to North Carolina, to enjoy time with my parents and for some much needed vacation. Since my wife is not that fond of driving, I tend to serve as the primary driver. I have honestly never been a fan of hands-free, as I have never truly found that device that is comfortable inside or on top of my ear. Alas, the laws change and I need to adapt. I often like to listen to music or audiobooks, specifically using the audible app. My…

Wizards and Wagons iOS Game Review 1

Wizards and Wagons gives a sense of accomplishment and fun. I have been a fan of trading games since playing Drugwars on my graphing calculator back in the late 1990’s. The premise of this genre of game is relatively simplistic, buy low, sell high and make profit. However, many of these games become repetitive, buy the same item enough times and then go to the place you know buys them at a profit to you. They often do not change much over time and you repeat the process until you can move to the next tier of buy/sell items. Once…

Storage made easy with the Western Digital 4TB MyBook. Storage has become a problem for the Xbox One. 500 GB just does not last very long when games take up anywhere from 20-50+ GB. I did not have that much of an issue until this year, with games like Rare Replay Extra (a very fun game). Also, I feel I need to download the free Games with Gold, because it feels like I am throwing away money if I do not. So, do I work on active hard drive management and add/delete as needed or do I, paraphrasing from the movie…

Memio iOS App Review 1

Memio great for studying. Ok app, where were you when I needed you? I have spent countless hours working with copy, cover, write and check or write/rewrite as a method to memorize facts and figures. Who else has had to memorize words, diagrams, images the old fashioned way? This, like most things tends to change with time. I have been given the opportunity to review a new app called Memio-Memorize Diagrams. This app is pretty specific in scope and is invaluable to students of all ages, whether you are in grade school or college. Where I think this would shine…

To case or not to case, that is the question… When it comes to my portable iDevices (iPhone 5, iPhone 6s Plus and my iPad Air 2), I have chosen to trust one name and that is Otterbox. I would not classify myself as a case snob, as I am more than willing to give a competitor their fair chance. I have seriously thought about the Lifeproof cases (the case was not available for my 6s plus when I bought my device). I have also considered many of the other cases combined with a zag shield for the screen. When…

Templar Battleforce iOS Game Review 1

Enjoyable way to spend downtime. Do you remember free time? Do you remember sitting down with hours of time with a single task, to conquer that game? As we get older our free time tends to slip away. Here is a game you can use to fill what down time you have available. I have been a fan of Action, RPG and JRPG since the days of Nintendo – yes, the 8-bit system that many of us built our gaming history upon. I remember hours of Legend of Zelda (yeah I know action, but there is strategy), Dragon Quest, Final…

Great charger for traveling. I have a confession. Other than buying the larger 12W Apple USB Power adapter for my iPad 2 a few years ago, I have never purchased a wall charger. Honestly, unless you have the New Nintendo 3DS XL (does not ship with a charger if any kind), why would you need to buy a wall charger? Devices usually ship with a charger. I have been given a LEFUN 18 Watt Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 USB Adapter to review for you. The device ships in a brown box with a surrounding white slip cover. The packaging is…

Good for charging many devices. Power is a must and portable power is becoming the norm rather than the exception. I often find myself with more day than battery and often look for ways to charge my devices, specifically my Nintendo 3DS XL, iPhone 6s Plus and iPad Air 2.  My family and I have recently begun to enjoy camping, both tent camping and motorhome camping. In these situations, I do not always have readily available AC current to charge my devices. Here the EACHINE Model X-power X3 device becomes an option to have on hand.  Luckily, I have one…

Kit provides capable monopod and awesome lens. Let me begin by announcing that I am not a part of the selfie culture. I take pictures of my family, my wife, my children and their activities, and rarely find myself within shutter shot of a camera. I have seen YouTube videos, I have been to events and I have directly seen many of today’s youth and those who are not so youthful, following trend and using selfie sticks. Alas, many places now ban selfie sticks for various reasons. You can guess at many of the reasons, especially when reminded that these…

As far as I can remember, I have had a car charger in my vehicle. These were often ugly and large. Some of you may even remember back when cords were curly and you wrapped your fingers around the cords during conversations. These have been replaced with USB car chargers, which are smaller and less of an eyesore.

The battle between lock and lock pick has been waged as long as one person has had something that another wanted. As a person who has been through 13 years of secondary education, I can tell you that tech and more importantly well-kept and safe tech are an important part of an academic world. Just get that new HP or that new Lenovo? Do you live in a place with roommates or high traffic flow or a dorm or a fraternity house perhaps? If you answered yes to any of these then you may want to consider a theft deterrent system. The key word here is deterrent.

How-To: iOS Device Timer Parent Mode Hack

In my family, we have a love of old and new technology. My boys ages 6 and 4 (6 month old daughter, too) get to play with tech regularly. They regularly watch movies, play games, watch TV cartoons or YouTube videos (surprise egg videos are their thing right now) on my iPad 2 or iPad Air 2.

It is a blessing and a frustration that each iOS update brings new changes to known apps. The camera app is no different. Am I alone in filling up my device with images and videos? I suspect if you are reading this article, this is not unusual. So many images, so little space.
