ChargeCube power banks make for great accessories.
My favorite accessories are the ones that provide a function as well as look good. So, naturally these days, my favorite accessories end up being batteries. I’m always draining power – either with my phone or my watch – and it’s great to have a backup on hand. I’ve been fortunate enough to test out a lot of battery packs and know some features to look for now. I was recently given the ASKBORG ChargeCube portable power banks in two sizes – 10400 mAh and 5200 mAh – to review.
ChargeCube 5200 mAh Power Bank
If you are looking for power in a small package, this is a great option for you. First of all, this battery has some style. It’s about the size of a large Tic-Tac box and has really cool rounded edges. It fits in your hand like a glove and it holds a charge of 5200 mAh, which is more than two iPhone 6 charges. It’s simple in design and has two ports on it – one standard USB for output and one Micro USB for input. As an added bonus, there is also a small LED flashlight on this battery. It’s a nice touch especially when you are on the go.
This power bank is tough and has a hard plastic exterior. The power button has four LED indicator light so you always know how much of a charge you have left. As far as charging goes, the 5200 mAh Power Bank charges around 1% per minute. This is a pretty quick charge and typical for batteries of this size.
I found that in charging the battery pack or charging a device from it that there was very little heat coming off of the pack. Some batteries have a lot of heat transfer, but this one does not. It’s lightweight – only 160 grams – and can easily fit into a pocket or bag. A Micro USB cable is included with the battery for its charging purposes, but if you are an Apple user, you will have to provide your own Lightning charging cable. All in all, this is a superb power bank and a great value for its cost.
ChargeCube 10400 mAh Power Bank
The larger capacity battery packs sometimes end up being too big to carry, but not the ASKBORG ChargeCube 10400. It measures 4.1 x 3.0 x 0.9 inches and fits easily into most bags. While it might a little too cumbersome to carry in a pocket, I do think it would fit. This power bank has two standard USB ports for output charging – one 1A charging port for standard mobile phones and then one 2A port for tablets.
I tested out the 10400 mAh Power Bank by charging my iPhone 6. After 6 minutes, I had gained 6% battery power from the 1A charging port. This is a good charging rate and not unusual for power banks like this. The battery didn’t heat up at all when I charged it or charged my iPhone. In addition to its charging capabilities, the power bank also has a small LED flashlight. You can charge and use the flashlight at the same time.
One of the nice, unique features of this battery is its exterior finish. The battery has a nice leather feel to its covering, which just adds some style and class to it. It’s very durable and I don’t see it getting damaged easily.
I feel that either of these batteries from ASKBORG would be a good choice for professionals on the go. They have style and function very well as portable power banks.
