Arlo Ultra and Pro 2 camera users will be able to trigger automations across HomeKit-enabled devices

Arlo Technologies, Inc., the #1 network connected camera brand, announced today that HomeKit, Apple’s secure smart home platform, will be supported by the Arlo Ultra 4K HDR Wire-Free and Arlo Pro 2 Security Camera Systems.  While Arlo users can already control their Ultra or Pro 2 cameras via the Arlo app, HomeKit provides added convenience for iPhone and iPad users to access certain functions of their Arlo cameras using the Apple Home app or Siri voice commands. Support for HomeKit will be available as an automatic firmware update for Arlo Ultra and Pro 2 camera systems later this quarter.

“As the smart home landscape continues to rapidly evolve, we are committed offering Arlo customers with the widest cross-compatibility support for third-party devices so that our users can create solutions that best suits their needs,” said Pat Collins, senior vice president of Arlo products. “By adding support for HomeKit, users will now have another convenient option to access their Arlo Ultra or Pro 2 camera systems and securely monitor their homes, loved ones or businesses.”

HomeKit allows customers to easily and securely control smart home products using the Apple Home app or by directing voice commands to Siri on their iPhone or iPad. Arlo Ultra or Pro 2 security cameras will be able to be added to the Home app like other HomeKit accessories, allowing users to include Arlo cameras into their custom scenes or automations. Users will be able to receive rich notifications via the Home app when motion is detected and also trigger actions from other HomeKit-enabled smart home devices registered to their account by creating automations. For example, a user could set up an automation to trigger HomeKit-enabled lights to turn on when motion is detected by an Arlo Ultra or Pro 2 camera. Users can even ask Siri to activate a livestream from their Arlo Ultra or Pro 2 cameras on their iPhone or iPad.

Arlo Ultra captures and outputs 4K video quality from the lens to the user. With an expansive 180-degree diagonal field of view, Ultra delivers one of the widest viewing angles in the wire-free security camera industry. Arlo Pro 2 allows users to watch and record crisp 1080p video. Both camera systems support two-way audio – with Ultra featuring advanced noise cancelation – allowing users to listen in and talk back through the camera from the Arlo app or Home app.

The new Arlo Ultra 4K HDR Wire-Free Security Camera System is available now, with pricing starting at $399.99 for the 1-camera system which includes a one-year subscription to Arlo Smart Premier, Arlo’s AI and computer vision powered service that delivers sophisticated detection of people, vehicles, packages and more3. The Arlo Pro 2 Smart Security System with 1080p HD picture quality starts at $299.99 for the 1-camera system.
