IMG_0035Timehop is a fun web and mobile app that captures information from other social networking apps and creates a time capsule for you to share with friends and family.

My first impression of this app was that it was a really neat idea. I’ve seen concepts like this carried out in different apps, but not one that takes information from so many sources. I thought, “Wow, this is pretty cool.” But, I quickly discovered that the app is somewhat limited.

First of all, it looks only at the same day in history. For example, I looked at January 15th. On January 15, 2012, I did not post anything on any social media outlet. So, the app says, “Blank days are boring…Hop back in time.” When you hop back in time, it looks for the day that has information closest to the current day. In my case, January 13th. Here is where the limitation comes in. I can’t look at any other days.

The layout it lovely and it’s easy to use, but I would prefer to be able to look up specific days and not be limited to the present day. It’s a fun little app and website and I do recommend it, but realize its limitations going into it.
