I have used both PowerPoint and Keynote for academic and professional presentations. Both pieces of software get the job done, but they aren’t really meant for simple, quick presentations. Luckily, Haiku Deck is. Haiku Deck is an easy-to-use, functional iPad app designed to help users create great-looking presentations quickly.
Haiku Deck is free to use, but there are add on themes for decks that can be purchased for a small fee comparable to most app costs. When you start up the app, you are met with a short tutorial that walks users through how to use Haiku Deck. Then, you start creating your own decks.
One of the things I like the best about this app is how easy it is to use. You select a theme, start typing, select a background and you’re done. It’s that simple. I also really enjoy the ability to select pictures for backgrounds. It comes with a tool that searches through images for use in the deck. Once you find an image, you select it and the image is dropped into the background of the slide.
The thing I don’t like about this app is that the output is one of four choices, Facebook, Twitter, load online or email it. The reason I don’t like this is because I would like to see it have additional export option for user convenience.
Is Haiku Deck a replacement for tools like Keynote or PowerPoint? No. But, it is a nice extra to have in your back pocket if you do a lot of presentations.

Thanks for the review, glad you’re enjoying the app. What additional output options would you like us to include? Let us know and we’ll make it happen. 🙂
I am very happy with the app. It’s a great presentation tool and I look forward to using it more. The output options I was referring to was the ability to export to Keynote or PowerPoint. Or, even screen output via AirPlay.
Hi Robyn,
Export to PowerPoint is in the app! Just click share/export and it will generate a .pptx file that you can open in PowerPoint or Keynote for Mac.
Thanks for the review!
