IMG_0026The holiday season doubles as the crafting season. Even though crafters the world over work diligently throughout the entire year, the holiday season is when many of them come out of the woodwork to display their work. For those seasoned veterans crafters and beginner crafters, I present my review of Craftsy for iPhone.

Craftsy for iPhone is a mobile version of the website is an online resource of how-to guides for crafters and a community of support from fellow crafters. Even though this review is about Craftsy for iPhone, I must say I was impressed with the full website, too. It’s a very clean, easy to understand website. Guides are broken into categories and each lesson has a detailed description.

Craftsy for iPhone provides the same content as the website, but it also includes mini-lessons for free. The app itself is free, but the classes are fee based per lesson. The mini-lessons are a great way to get started without the commitment of the cost (most of the classes seem to be $19.99 or higher). So, what do you get with your class? You get resources like class materials, limitless viewing of the lesson and no expiration date on the video lesson.

One of the features I like best about the app is the ability to make notes on the video. Video notes are private bookmarks that you create to help you remember points in the lesson that are important to your project.

If you are a crafter, I would highly recommend this app and the website. It is a great resource, but be cautious of the costs for the lessons. Craftsy is also available on iPad.
