I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m an Angry Birds fan. After I conquered the original game, I wanted another game to take its place and was sorely disappointed in the games I found. Until Angry Birds Seasons came out. It was a wonderful addition to my apps collection as it updates every few months with a new board. One of my favorites is the Christmas Season update because it’s an advent calendar and only one stage is available per day. It was the first time I had played a game with that level of creative design built-in to the programming.
In addition to the enjoyable game play, I want to mention that this is one of the only set of apps I have spent money on. I am almost exclusively a ‘free’ app user…except for Angry Birds. When Angry Birds Star Wars was released earlier this month, I purchased it without batting an eyelash.
Being a child of the 80s, I grew up watching the stories of a galaxy far, far away and eagerly anticipating the prequel releases in the movie theaters. When I found out that Angry Birds Star Wars would be released, I was stoked. Two geek worlds collided and a new entertainment medium was born.
So, how’s the game play? Game play is fantastic. ABSW takes the best of each version of Angry Birds and finds a way to add in Han Solo, Luke Skywalker and Obi Wan Kanobi birds. The best part? Spoiler Alert…Luke Skywalker-bird gets a light saber.
So far, I have fought through the levels on Tatoonie (aka World 1) and am about halfway through the Death Star (aka World 2). The world map shows that Hoth will be available soon.
ABSW is very enjoyable and I recommend it to any Angry Birds & Star Wars fans. I purchased the app for iPhone, but it is also available for iPad and iTouch.
