A powerful charging power adapter designed for travel.
Many years ago I had the opportunity to travel outside the United States. I discovered quickly that I needed compatible power adapters for my electronic devices. At that time, my devices were limited and I didn’t need to power as many items as I do now. So, having a super portable power adapter like the Anker PowerPort III 2-Port 60W charger is a huge benefit for people when they travel these days.
DETAILS
This USB-C charger provides 60W of output power to its connected devices. It has two USB-C ports with intelligent power allocation and will adjust its power output every three minutes. The charger features GaN technology and is compatible with US, UK, and EU region plugs for travel. It’s designed to work directly with MacBooks, iPad Pros, iPhones, Samsung Galaxy smartphones, and more. The charger can charge two laptops simultaneously – as long as they don’t require more than 60W of power. The charger comes with a welcome guide and different region power port adapters.

USER EXPERIENCE
I received this charger as a part of a review package so I’m not entirely sure what the official retail package is. I received this charger with the regional power accessories, a user manual, and a USB-C to USB-C cable. The PowerPort III charger is about the size of a standard Apple power adapter and it’s very easy to pack away into a laptop bag. I love the fact that it has two USB-C ports. Since it’s so close to the same size as an Apple charger you are automatically getting an upgrade since you can charge two devices simultaneously versus the one you can do with the Apple charger.
While I’m comparing the Anker PowerPort III adapter to the Apple Power Adapter, I think it’s important to look at the cost difference as well. Now, Apple’s USB-C power adapter that is closest to this 60W charger is the 67W USB-C Power Adapter. It retails for $59. In order to get that power adapter as close to matching the Anker power adapter, you would have to add in the Apple World Travel Adapter Kit for $29. That ends up being a total of $88 when the Anker power adapter is around $50. Now, I will state that my power adapter only came with the US and EU plug adapters.

I opted to test this power adapter by charging my iPhone 12 Pro. It was at 62% battery when I plugged it in and I used a standard Apple USB-C to Lightning cable to connect to the charger. I let it charge for 30 minutes noting the battery level at 10-minute intervals. The first ten minutes had the fastest charging rate at 1.1% per minute. Within the next ten minutes, the battery level reached 81% and began trickle charging, which is a method of charging technology that Apple uses with its Lithium-ion batteries to help preserve their battery life. The second 10-minute interval was only 0.8% per minute and the last 10-minute interval was 0.7% per minute. Overall, the phone averaged a charging rate of 0.87% per minute, which I was still satisfied with.
CONCLUSION
The Anker PowerPort III 2-Port 60W charger is a high-quality product that provides a high output charge to connected devices. It’s been a good addition to my travel accessory kit.
