Makes for stylish, functional accessory.

Aluminum Mouse Pad Review 3I am a huge fan of products that take on the appearance of Apple’s natural design. For example, one of Apple’s signature design features is brushed aluminum finishes. It is not only durable, but it’s also sleek and stylish. You know when you see a laptop that is brushed aluminum that it’s a Mac. So, I tend to gravitate toward products that mimic that design feature. When I came across this unique aluminum mouse pad, I was immediately taken with it.

For starters, it’s aluminum. It has the same finish as my Mac Book Pro. It really looks nice sitting on a desk next to it. The mouse pad was designed to go with this computer. There is no doubt about it. Because it’s aluminum, it’s extremely tough and can withstand a certain amount of abuse from daily activities.

Before I started using it, I wasn’t sure how I would like it. After all, it is metal and I’m use to cloth-based mouse pads. How would my hand feel resting on a cold piece of metal? And, how would my miniature wireless Bluetooth mouse work on what is typically a reflective surface? All of these questions were quickly answered the first time my tiny mouse moved over the brushed aluminum surface.

The mouse pad functions beautifully. I’ve actually never had such a wonderful experience with a mouse pad. My mouse of preference sometimes has issues on even semi-reflective surfaces. This surface was perfect for my mouse. I never had any problems with the cursor skipping across the screen or being otherwise unresponsive.

As far as comfort goes, I’m not going to lie. It was a little weird at first, but that weirdness quickly faded when discovered how awesome the mouse pad was functioning. Because this mousepad is rigid and doesn’t flex easily, you can use it on soft surfaces like a couch or a bed. It’s great because there are many times that I want to use my mouse and can’t because of the soft sided couch cushions of the sofa I accommodate most nights when I’m writing. This mouse pad makes it possible to work with a mouse instead of just the trackpad on my MacBook Pro.

The only downside to this style of mouse pad is that it doesn’t fold up easily to travel. It is very lightweight – only 194g, which is about the same as the new iPhone 6s Plus – and, thin so it will slide into most laptop bags with ease. It just won’t fold.

All in all, this is a really nice addition to any computer set-up.
