Feel better with Airocide.
Recently, my family and I went to see the movie The Martian starring Matt Damon. In this movie, Damon plays an astronaut who is left behind on Mars after a manned space mission has to abort. He is left alone and has to figure out how to survive until another mission can rescue him. His speciality, as it turns out, is Botany so he sets himself to work and attempts to grow a garden in the harsh environment on Mars. This is of course is a plan wrought with issues. Even though this story is fictional since we have not had any manned missions to Mars yet, it does have some truth built in.
Airocide, a revolutionary new product for cleaning the air, was developed to help with growing gardens in space – similar to what Damon’s character ends up doing in The Martian. The technology arose from NASA scientists who were working on a way to diminish the amount of volatile organic compounds (VOC) in the air. VOCs are naturally occurring and when you grow plants in an air-tight space like a space shuttle or station, one VOC, ethylene, will build up unless you have a secondary system to dissipate it into the air so that the plants wouldn’t ripen too rapidly. Unfortunately, VOC gas molecules are too small to be filtered through even hospital grade HEPA filters. So, the technology behind Airocide was born.
It was originally developed by NASA to eliminate ethylene gas, but was soon found to have other applications including getting rid of Anthrax spores. It was eventually determined that the technology was effective in destroying bacteria, viruses, and virtually any VOC it came into contact with, PLUS pollen, mold spores, mycotoxins, dust mites, and more!
So, this brings us to the Airocide Air Purifier, the commercialization of the NASA technology. It’s designed with consumer use in mind. It’s filterless, eliminates virtually 100% of your home’s VOCs, reduces your exposure to allergens, protects your family from airborne pathogens, and in general keeps the air you breathe at home cleaner so you feel better than ever.
So, let’s take a closer look at this super air purifier.
Out of the box, the Airocide Air Purifier is pretty much ready to go. It doesn’t take some big installation to be up and running. There are minimal steps you need to take to make sure it’s mission ready, but in just a few minutes, air is circulating through the Airocide.
The unit is space-like in look. It has a beautifully designed grill that is made from anodized aluminum that rests on the front. The cabinet of the system has a dark wood grain sleeve that contains the Reaction Chamber. It’s a lovely touch and makes the unit really fit into any decor. Plus, the style of the Airocide really makes it feel like it’s not even an air purification system. It looks more like a piece of electronics, than an appliance.
Using Aircide is also very easy. You don’t have to do any sort of calibration to have it ready to go with your living environment. There is an on/off button on the back that you have to depress in order to access the touch sensitive controls on the front. There are three settings for Airocide – low, high, and automatic. Something that is really interesting about these settings is that there is one – low – that is actually not recommended for use except for situations where you need a quiet setting.
The high setting is the default and the Airocide will start up with that setting on. Automatic is a set program that allows the unit to run on high for most of the day, but then shift over to a low/quiet setting for other times of the day. We kept our unit on high most of the time and our reason for that was because we have two dogs in our household and they provide added allergens into our home.
In fact, one of the biggest issues we have is the constant presence of dog hair on our entertainment center. It’s a glass surface so we can always see it. Within a few hours of having the Airocide installed and running in our living room, we noticed not on a huge difference in the air quality, but also a huge difference in the amount of dust and hair that was collecting on furniture. It was greatly decreased.
I really like that Airocide is built to run 24/7. It is constantly cleaning the air and circulating it so that it does not become stagnant. Plus, you can set it and forget it. It just runs in the background.
I would like to note that while it’s not the noisiest piece of equipment in the world, it’s not the quietest either when it’s in high mode. We can hear the fans whirring and it sounds similar to like what a gaming system does to cool down. In fact, more than once I’ve thought that it was our Xbox One. It’s not horrible, but it’s noticeable. I believe that if the unit were in a bedroom, it would actually be a calming white noise in the background.
While we don’t have a definitive method to test the air quality in our home, we can definitely tell that the air is easier to breathe and my fiancé found that his eyes felt less dry within the first 24 hours we had it turned on. We have been testing out the Airocide for nearly 60 days now and have been incredibly impressed with its performance.
Airocide has designed a one-of-a-kind filterless air handling system that just works. It’s very low-maintenance and it works exceptionally well.
