Choosing apps for a new Apple computer or an existing Mac or MacBook is always a big challenge. It’s always difficult to choose: to buy expensive software or choose a similar option, but free? To pick up something from the novelties on the market or install proven by Apple community tools? Use stock apps or watch third-party products?

In order not to suffer in agony, we’ve rounded up 11 macOS apps to help Steve Jobs fans tackle the most common tasks.

To Begin with: Why Mac?

The best Apple computers and laptops are copied by many producers, but until now, no competitor based on Windows or Chrome OS has been able to replicate the excellence of Apple computers. Combining a seamless, extremely user-friendly operating system with high-performance components and a luxurious design that’s the envy of others, today’s Macs are dictating to the world what the computing experience should be.

Mac owners keep repeating: both the old versions of the MacBook Air and the new MacBook Pro are very productive and can support heavy and demanding photo editing programs, video editors for Mac, and even some of the top market games.

Combining elegance, minimalism, and reliability in a portable design with an optimized user interface not found anywhere else, MacBooks easily explain the popularity of Apple laptops around the world. And with the release of the new and long-awaited M1 chipset and the macOS 11 Big Sur update now available for download, Apple computers and laptops are just getting better.

Best Apps You Can Install on Mac

  1. Google Chrome

The debate over which browser for Mac is the best will likely never be resolved. Apple computers come with a Safari – its users get such functions as Siri, Apple Pay payment opportunities, video in picture-in-picture mode, the ability to mute the sound directly from the tab bar, and others. It is convenient to use this browser if you also use Apple mobile devices.

However, we also recommend installing Chrome for Mac. Google’s browser is easier to customize with more extensions and is useful if you use Google apps a lot. At the same time, Chrome is more energy-efficient than Safari.

  1. Intego

Finding a good antivirus for Mac is no easy task. But after testing almost every antivirus for macOS, it’s safe to say that Intego is the best one. It has two excellent anti-malware modules – VirusBarrier and NetBarrier.

Moreover, Intego has many useful extra tools, namely a system cleaning and optimization tool, an advanced data backup tool, and parental control opportunities.

  1. CleanMyMac X

The program will clean up megatons of junk and make your computer run faster. CleanMyMac X replaces dozens of optimization tools. It will do everything: clean macOS, monitor performance, remove malware. Not an app but a pure gem.

  1. BetterTouchTool

Utility for fine tuning the keyboard, mouse or trackpad. Allows you to “bind” buttons to different actions, depending on the open application.

  1. Pixelmator Pro

The photo editing software is distinguished by the successful use of neural networks for processing images. This app should only be tried out because of its AI-powered features. With it, for example, you can cleverly remove noise in the picture in three clicks.

  1. Spotify

No matter what you do on your Mac, music or a podcast playing in the background is a must-have.

So Spotify is the best streaming app because it boasts the widest range of audio content from around the world.

  1. The Unarchiver

This is a convenient and simple archiver that can unpack and open any archives. In the settings, you can configure all supported extensions, up to such unknowns as .tgz, .bin, .macbin, etc.

  1. LastPass

We all have a million passwords for social media and different accounts, and they all need to be remembered. Fortunately, LastPass is a tool that securely stores your passwords and credentials for multiple websites across multiple devices. It also automatically fills in your billing and shipping information if you shop online.

Moreover, the application helps to generate a strong password and set several levels of protection. Your data is stored in encrypted storage using AES 256-bit encryption.

  1. SuperDuper!

In a world where the slightest mistake can lead to data loss, SuperDuper! is an essential application. You don’t need to be a professional programmer to use it. You simply select the source and destination disks and watch them make backup flawlessly. There will be no more lost photos or documents due to accidental deletion or formatting issues.

  1. DiskDrill

Nevertheless, we will leave the program for those who forget or fundamentally don’t download the software to create a backup copy. DiskDrill recovers deleted files. With its help, you can recover 90% of the information from a randomly formatted SSD.

  1. Zoom

Zoom’s popularity skyrocketed in 2020 following the pandemic, and people around the world were forced to work from home. This is the best video conferencing app for professional, academic, and personal use. You can even record meetings locally or in the cloud, making it ideal for globally distributed teams.

What’s more, virtual backgrounds, reactions, filters, polls, and music or video sharing help make every meeting more fun.
